Man Power Development & Training
In order that the human resource is developed for gainful employment, the training must be need based, and should provide employable skill. All training preferable is competency based and well designed through graded exercises, keeping in view the market requirements for various trades. Short term non formal modular courses of 3 to 6 months duration, depending on the local needs and commensurate with the available local resources with proper structures, yet having the desired flexibility to pave the way for self paced Open Learning Mode (OLM), should be offered. In most cases Multi skill training may be offered to make self-employment viable in the rural economy. Preference may be given to the training courses with technical bias.
Objectives of Man Power Development Programs are broadly classified as follows1. Providing basic skills, knowledge and attitudes for self/wage employment in their own village or near by areas
2. Imparting entrepreneurial skills for initiating small/tiny enterprises with specially designed programs for the rural youth and community
3. Offering skill up gradation programs in their own fields, or for adoption of appropriate technologies for enhancing their employment prospects e.g. Manson may trained construction of bio-gas plants, ferro cement, may black smith be trained in welding or fabrication etc.
4. Identifying and conducting special training programs for women, scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, minorities, school drop outs, street-children and physically handicapped.
5. Training for effective maintenance and operation for promoting developmental activities in the villages.
6. Special training programs in hygiene, sanitation and mechanical means for cleaning, for creation of awareness and liberation and rehabilitation of scavengers.
Salient features
I. The training programs should be needed based, a lot more emphasis need to be given to the demand of the service sector.
II. The community polytechnic should target the poor and deprived sections of the society in both urban and rural areas specifically women, scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, minorities, school drop outs, street children and physically handicapped.
III. Each community polytechnic should conduct a micro survey for identification of priority needs for training programs of a few villages clustered or isolated, DRDA, NGOs, voluntary agencies, village panchayats and retired teachers, engineers and other reputed persons should be involved in these process.
IV. The programs offered should be flexible and informal with open access to all without any precondition of age, sex, and educational qualification
V. The skill chosen for training shall be based on socio economic survey and felt needs of the locality.
VI. To facilitate self-employment in service sector, emphasis should be in multi-disciplinary skill training while for employment in production centers, training may be given either on specialized designated skills or multi trade skills depending on needs and requirements.
VII. Selection of trainees must be in socio economic criteria, aptitude and proficiency but preference shall be given to women, scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, minorities, school dropouts, street children and physically handicapped.
VIII. Recognition by way of issuing certificates, indicating the level of proficiency the beneficiary has attained through participation in the programs may be given by the polytechnic for reference of employing agencies.
IX. Institute may avail of the facility, if any, for certification if competency achieved and issue of certificate in collaboration with some manufactures if popular products, in an around the locality, a suitable mechanism may be evolved in this regard sharing of financial/skill resources available with different institutions; organizations, agencies may be availed.
X. Vocational Schools/colleges wherever available may be utilized for the skill developmental/training programs using them as Extension Centers
XI. The major criteria for imparting training are the rate of employability and the competency attained by the trainees, institute should only start need based training programs
XII. Competency based curricula to be followed by each community Polytechnic
XIII. Institute should develop a proper mechanism to know the post training status of the trainees specifically with regard to their greeting self/wage employment.
Man Power Developmental Program under our institution
We have the main center at our Polytechnic College and five extension centers various places in and around the colleges.

3. Welding
20 students get it benefit per year per courses. It is a six month course. So for every year 120 students get the benefit. After completing the course they get the course certificate. 905 of our trainees got self/wage employment and 60% went abroad for job. We have equipped Radio, TV & Home Appliances lab. The Plumbing and welding workshops are also well equipped. Our students get both theoretical and practical classes.

All these centers give training for 20 students per batch. Up to 800 trainees get training annually and more than 80% gets self/wage employment.
