The National Service Scheme was formed in the year 1969, the birth-centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. It was formed on a central theme which Mahatma Gandhi tried to impress upon his student audience at time and again, that they should always keep before them, their social responsibility. The aim of education is not just the question covering but also is used for the betterment of the society.
Motto
The motto of the National Service Scheme is "NOT ME, BUT YOU". It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole. Therefore N S S is maintaining this motto in the day to day programmes it undertakes.
